iPad pedometer

I am no a stranger to pedometers. I used a very high-tech Omorn pedometer last year. Newly available iPad Huge Pedometer is brimming with even more hardware potential, though it's wrapped around what is certainly the most ridiculous premise: using a tablet as a tool to track your steps.

The 99-cent Huge iPad Pedometer uses the accelerometer to determine how many steps you've taken. This is something that typically requires you to situate the pedometer on your belt, in your pocket, or hand on your neck.

In terms of this working with the iPad your options are obviously more limited. I was able to get it to work by lashing an iPad around my leg with a belt. A simpler option is just to throw it in your bag, and leave the pedometer running while you walk around, which works at the expense of your battery life.

The pedometer offers no analysis of your physical efforts, or a way to log past journeys. In fact, there are no optionsat all. A better solution, it would seem, is to buy a real pedometer and log your efforts on the iPad's notes app. Or if you have an iPhone or iPod Touch, just use one of the countless pedometer that will actually fit into your pocket even your wallet.
